Just knitting a sock.

I started the lovely lacey sock from the current IK. I decided to do the dk weight...but I don't know if I love them. They knit quickly, but they are a thick sock.

Around the house they will be perfect. I do like the pattern. It is simple and would look fabulous in a lighter weight yarn. So yes, I will be knitter the fingering weight as well.

Lets take a moment and talk about the Olympic Canadian Women's Hockey Team. I really don't know to much about hockey...so help me out. It was late...but I am pretty sure that I heard the announcer say that the spare goalie (you know, the understudy...the one you put in when the regular goalie is injured...whatever they are called) does not...I repeat does not get a gold medal. She is part of the team, but I guess did not play. Ok, rules whatever.
Not only do I see this as unfair...but I am sure the announcer said that in the Mens Hockey team...the spare goalie does...yes that is right...does get a medal. Explain please.
Correct me if I heard incorrectly.
It is shocking.

Oh, that's a really cute sock. I will have to go out and see if I can find the new IK now.

I have no idea if what you said about the hockey gold medal is true, but I sure hope it's not. That's aweful!

I don't know if that's true either, about the hockey medals. But I agree, a shocking example of gender unfairness!

Those socks look great! What yarn are you using? Although, I should just wait a few minutes. You'll be done with them, and will post all the details with an FO picture! :)

if i'm correct (and there's no guarantee of this lol...i've been paying a lot more attention to my knitting than to the games though i've had them on in the bg) i'm fairly sure i heard the announcer say that the 'no medal unless you've actually played' rule (tacky imho) was thrown out this year, and all players on a medalling team (regardless of gender) should be getting a medal, regardless of playing status...i couldn't find any info online but i'll keep trying to find out...i agree it would be pretty tacky if they only changed it for the mens' teams

LOVE the sock.

The rule for the spare goalie does sound a bit dodgy.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you heard right about the "spare goalie" or player rule. One cannot get a medal if they were bench warmers. Usually a conscientious coach will give the spare goalie the needed ice time in order to get the medal.
Nice sock!

That sock pattern is lovely. Would there be someone else who would be able to wear them?
