Grumperina is that you?

Ok, the funniest thing ever...
So after a long hard day of work, I sit to unwind on the couch and my DH hands me my mail. I quickly toss aside the bills to get to the good stuff...IK Spring 2007.

Me: "OH good...grumperina has a great sock pattern in this issue. She finally has a pattern published in print! Brilliant!"

DH: "Grumperina is in that book?"

Me: "HAHAHHHHAAA oh my you can't be serious!" as I flip through the pages...stopping on page 18.

DH: "THAT'S GRUMPERINA?" (Spoken with such interest...like a new found love of knitting!)

Me: "No. No dear, that is not her. Most of the knitters I "know" don't knit these things...or model them on their web sites!"

So Kathy...firstly BRAVO! What an accomplishment and...if I ever make it to Cambridge, MA to meet up for a coffee and some knitting...he won't be joining us!

Back to the IK issue...there are some patterns that do look interesting.
The socks of course...both grumperina's and Eunny's. Not that I would wear Eunny's Entrelac socks, but I would love to knit them.

I really like the Dollar and A Half Cardigan...but I think I would make the fronts the same...I do like each side, though.
I may knit one of the staff projects...for fun. But I'll let you see it (NOT MODELED) when I knit it;)

The skirt is really cute...I would love to knit a skirt.
I love this little sweater...but I don't like the yarn "double breasted" it seems to add bulk on me.
This is just beautiful.

Like I have time to knit any of those...but whatever...we can dream can't we?

And finally, I did make more progress on AIR.

The fronts are complete (well, not the flap pocket tops yet) and I have started the sleeves. The cuff has some pattern to it then it's st st till the end...it won't be long now.

Did you even notice the "mistake" in the cables? You would have to refer back to the finished photo.

No? ME neither!!

Any wagers as to when this sweater will be complete? I have today and Thursday off...then most evenings with the exception of Friday (so count that day out)....

OH MY GOD!!! I HAVE LOST MY MIND. DO YOU SEE!!!!!!! I CAN'T EVEN WRITE ABOUT IT NOW.
I HAVE BEEN KNITTING THESE TWO FRONT PIECES FOR A WEEK AND NEVER EVEN NOTICED THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY KNITTING CAREER.

I give up...I just don't think I can knit and work.

Carolyn - if you want to knit a skirt, another great one is anne hanson's at knitspot. It's called Sangria. It is way way cute!! I knitted it and can't wait to wear it for spring!

Now I'll have to go home and look up page 18. I really liked the Dollar and a Half cardigan, too. You're making great progress on your sweater!

So funny! My husband did that too with the first knit mag - actually, I believe his actual words were, "Wow, I did't know so many knitters were hot! Wait, do they only publish the things knit by skinny girls??" He figured it out pretty quick.
"Air" is looking good...

I'm betting you'll finish late Thursday night.

I loved the Dollar and a Half Cardigan, too, and the awesome cabled sweater by Stefanie Japel, as well as the Clementine Shawl.

And I felt the exact opposite of you about Eunny's Entrelac Socks - I don't want to knit them, but I do want to wear them! So cute.

I honestly can't see your 'mistake'. My eyes are like that. ;-) Seriously, I think I'd have to count rows or stitches or something to find it, and I'm not.

I am thinking of making the Dollar and a Half cardigan myself, with matching fronts. I may nix the front with the horizontal lines, especially since I want to make it in a light color. If you catch my drift. :-)

It was so strange to read my thoughts on your blog today. :) I love Eunny's socks, and am certain I'll make...and not wear them. I can also see myself making the Dollar and a Half Cardigan... twice... but with left and fronts matching on each. Grumperina's socks are also a given...

but those unmentionables... hmmmmm

I am sure that you will finish it by the weekend, you are a fast knitter. I cant believe your hubby wanted to see what Grumperina looked like, you must talk about her a lot if he knows who she is. Funny! There are quite a few patterns in the IK Spring issue that I like too, and I cant wait to see what you knit.

i hope i'm wrong here but when you mentioned error i noticed something -- the fronts aren't symetrical. the st st and seed stitch panels aren't mirror images. i'm hoping i'm just looking at the pics incorrectly. it's hard to tell where each piece stops and starts when they're on top of each other. *fingers crossed*

Bless you! It is hard to knit and work at the same time, especially when you're used to knitting so much (and working much less). For me, I have to get into a new rhythm with my knitting and move into acceptance that I won't complete as many projects as quickly as I would like. *sigh*

Oh, I just looked at a picture of Air, I know how you're feeling! I've had that moment, as have we all. Now do you rip it out or make it a design element? I'd have to rip once I realized it, whether anyone else knew it, I would always be aware of what I had done. But right now, you're probably not knitting...maybe drinking instead!

Carolyn. Oh honey. Take a glass of wine and a break from this cardi. Step away from the needles. :)

Carolyn,
My knitting teacher would call your fronts a "design change". Afterall, why do the fronts have to be perfect?
You may even get your "design change" published sometime!

Well, I suppose you have Air and Dollar and a Half all in one...

Sorry, honey. This is a doozy. Sit down, have a glass of wine, and face the frogging.

{{Hugs!}}

Oh, that is a tough one!! while focusing on the tiny cable mistake....

Oh dear. I didn't notice, either, until I looked really hard at it. I'd write it off as a design element, but I know it must be hard to deal with!

yikes. Sorry. I find I can only do one thing well at a time. Work has to suffer (the knitting can't).

Oh, I just noticed... whoops!

Okay, I must be stupid I can't see where there's a mistake. Where is it???

I don't see a mistake at all either. It looks really good.

THERE ARE NO WORDS TO BE SAID...

YOUR FOCUS LATELY IS WAY TOO MUCH ON YOUR JOB AND FAMILY AND YOUR KNITTING IS SHOWING IT.

IT SUFFERS, WE SUFFER... SOB.

Oh no! I just noticed it after I compared it with the picture on the Rowan website. Yikes! I don't know what to say except that it did take me quite a while to see it so it may be possible to just keep it as your own design element. Best Wishes.

Well, I didn't even notice, I'm not here to critique you. And if by chance I did notice, I wouldn't have said a word. Do not give up. It's an easy mistake to make when you're working your rear end off and trying to relax with your knitting.

Oh no! I'm so sorry.
