Sheep Dress and Booties

This is cute...like really cute...consider yourself warned...

Started: October 25, 2006
Finished: November 17, 2006
Pattern: Sheep Dress and Booties from Debbie Bliss Baby Knits.
Yarn: Baby Cashmerino in teal, cream and brown. I knit the 6-9 months size and used 5 balls of the teal and a little bit of the other two colours.
Needles: Knit picks US#2 and Addis US# 3
Adjustments: Wellllll....I had some gauge issues...so I was going to make it a smaller size because with my gauge it would work out to the 6-9 month...but my gauge changed for some reason and I had more stitches to the inch. I had to go back to the pattern as written, so the skirt should be fuller...I didn't rip it back. I knit the skirt in the round using fair isle, instead of back and forth as written with intarsia.

I added a button at the back which forced me to split the collar. I was worried about the head getting in there...

It turned out just fine. No worries about that head now!

The booties...

Debbie bliss booties are the cutest...

Now, after seeing that baby this weekend...I am worried about the size. I really hope it will fit her at christmas...I may have to give it to her early! She is only 2 months! Stop feeding that baby so much Christina!

Another one off the list...Fa la la la la...la la la la.

Adorable!!! Wouldn't it be great if all moms stopped feeding their babies, so that our lovely handknits could be worn for years and years and years?

The dress and booties are beautiful. I saw the dress in progress at the Debbie Bliss event, and I'm delighted to see the final product.
Growing babies are a problem with knitted projects. However since they don't wear them out, the garment may be an heirloom passed down and around for many years.
I knit a coat for my nephew when he was 18 months. He is now 32, and the coat has been worn by many children, including great nephews and nieces. Still looks cute.
Best wishes.

Oh! This is so so lovely. I have several family members hoping to have a baby, so if one of them turns out to be a girl, this is what I'm gonna make!

Oh, so beautiful! You have to give it before Christmas, so she can wear it ON Christmas! I mean really, she couldn't possibly own anything nicer.

Ok, now I'm trying to figure out how to make best friends with you so that you can knit ME this outfit for my impending birth. (I guess if it's a boy he's just gonna have to be the cutest little cross dressing baby in town.)

I have no problem bribing you with Godiva chocolate and copious amounts of yarn!

OK, so you know how cute that is? And the workmanship! Very impressive!

Absolutely gorgeous, and I agree it must be given as an early Christmas present or she will only get to wear it once, and what a waste that would be. Adorable knits must not be wasted you know!

OMG, that is so beautiful! on my blog, under july 3rd, you can see a picture of the overall I made for my granddaughter. I got the pattern from a borrowed DB book, is it the same one? if so, I truly have to buy a copy.

SO CUTE!!! I agree with Kristin, give it to the baby. Babies don't know when Christmas is anyway.

Can I just say that there is something irresistable about knitted sheep? Why is that?

I think I live in the same city as you do. Can you give me a hint as to what your "LYS" is? I have only seen one yarn store here besides Michaels, Zeller's, and Walmart - and it seems I can never get there when it is open!

Oh, that is super cute! I may just pick up this book for my next baby knit, I really adore this pattern.

That is absolutely amazing! What a wonderful gift. I can't believe all the holiday knitting you have done so far- I took this holiday season off (only things for my girls), so I am living vicariously through you : )Keep up the good work!
