Something is finally blocking!

This is the first time I have had a bleeding colour problem...

It's not really that bad...next wash I could add some vinegar I guess.

Here is the Swallowtail Shawl blocking...

I must say that I really LOVE knitting lace. There will be many more lace projects...so I really think I need to build a large blocking board (the current board is great for sweaters...but I need the ironing board added to it for shawls). Hint...hint...dad! It's really easy...check out this idea HERE.

Also, I tried stringing through some cotton to give me a nice straight edge...but it didn't work out so well this time...I need blocking wires.

I just ordered blocking wires for myself from Knitpicks.
Your Swallowtail is gorgeous. It plan to cast on for it in September, once I get a few more UFOs complete.

Other than the bleeding at this point the yarn looks wonderful!Which yarn did you use?

It looks like you just need to pull the string so that it is tighter. (I tie mine to a pin on each side and then put the pins in the board so that string is taunt.) The shawl is beautiful! Can't wait to see it "released"!

Your shawl looks gorgeous. I am going to start knitting lace in something other than a scarf very soon, and I am inspired by your beautiful knitting. I hope I can come close!

I have to admit that I coveted blocking wires for far too long...until I read Sweetgeorgia's comments that she uses the wires from surveyor flags (about $5 for a bundle of, oh, 75 or so at Lowe's/Home Depot) and as soon as I read that I grabbed the few spare bills floating around the house and ran right over to the closest hardware store and now have a plethora of wonderful blocking wires for all my future lacy projects!

I bought those "fit together foam puzzle things" from a toy store. There were 4 in a package for about $20 and they are each 2' square. So essentially I have 8 feet of blocking space if I needed it. I put a towel over the foam puzzle pieces and block away. Once the garment is dry, I pull out the pins and break up the puzzle and can easily store it. I too once had a large (bugger to store away) blocking board but opted for the foam puzzle pieces due to space. I love it.

It's beautiful. The details are much easier to see in your photos than IK's. It didn't interest me at all in the magazine, but now I'm tempted...
