So with the scarf complete...it was time to come up with a quick knit for the second part of this gift. Well, as previously discussed, this must be a machine washable knit. The recipient will so appreciate anything I knit, and wear it everywhere...but handwash...no.
I picked up some Lion Brand Wool-Ease. Yarn snob no more.
Quick knit...well, not really. The project:
Sure, it's a vest, no arms, it must be a quick knit. Weeellll, that is a lot of cabling to do.
Here I am (please keep in mind that red is not the colour to try to photograph and I am stretching out the pattern so you can see)
It's coming along just fine...I think the acrylic/wool blend is really drying out my hands. Hopefully I can get the back done and my current sock by the weekend.

For most people this wouldn't be a quick knit, but I think you will finish it in record time. You are so good with cables. Very pretty.
Oh, that's a lovely vest, and the red (at least as it appears on my monitor) is wonderful. Enjoy knitting this!
CUTE vest. I've been craving a vest for myself lately--where's that pattern from?
I love this pattern, too. It's on my list. Before I try it, however, I must learn to cable without a cable needle.
I love the simple cables and red yarn of your vest!
Very very nice! I like that red. Although I am becoming a fiber snob, I do like Wool-Ease. I have used it for things for the boys and it holds up pretty well. Better than some of its yarn shop competitors that I've tried. Plus, lots of colors. Your recipient will love it!
For an acrylic blend, that is some lovely yarn and such a nice red! Such a good gift.
It's looking great. That vest is on my future to-do list!
Ooooh! I forgot about that vest pattern, thanks for reminding me of it. I have yarn in the stash that would work, but I have enough for a sweater and would feel wasteful....... Or maybe not. We'll see. I hope you got my email today!
What a cute vest! Please give us your opinion about Wool Ease. I haven't used it yet and I wonder how it wears over time.
