The Happy Hooker.

Really...I am not.

I am playing around with the happy hooker book...there are some cute patterns in it...but...but...I just can't put my finger on it.
Crochet really makes me think "grandma"...I don't know...it's knotty...it's just not as exciting as knitting, for me.

I actually picked up this book a couple days ago and started using some left over acrylic/wool blend to start a scarf...janet mentioned this scarf pattern and that is the one I had started! (check out here cable hat she recently knit...the pattern is here)

I wanted to use a really nice wool...but I just couldn't "waste" it on crochet...that's so aweful!

My favorite kind of crocheting is with tiny needles and thread-like fiber to make lacy things.
I find crocheting with regular (dk, for example) yarn results in a too-thick fabric for my tastes.

Ah, but it's always good to learn new skills, if nothing else!

I sooo relate! I use it for edges on very large items or just when you want to add a little to a girls cardi.

I've tried crochet, and I have the same feeling you do! I imagine granny slippers, acrylic afghans, and doilies. (Doilies, I could llike doing)

I make little "blankies" for animal shelters. I use two strands of acrylic and do a double crochet. That's my extent of crochet, except to do edging on knitted items.

Yup, I pretty much feel the same way. Although I must say, I did look through the Happy Hooker book but then put it down. I diskliked most everything in there. There is a book called 'Simple Crochet' by Erika Knight that I have my eye on. It's projects are much better in my opinion.

You just haven't seen the right crocheted item for you yet. That's why you think "grandma". When I saw the "femme fatale" book by Colinette yarns, I fell in love with the crocheted shawl on the front. Still haven't made it, but LOVE IT!

Yeah, I'm with you on the whole crochet thing. It just doesn't do it for me either.
