Hello again.

Moe in Urban Aran, originally uploaded by cmeknit.

When last we met, I had knit some monkeys.
I delivered those monkeys to my sister Moe in C.T.
Those monkeys were knit for her two boys.
She wanted something that they could hug at night when they were scared, when she was too sick, when she wasn't there.
That was quite and order to fill....but I did it and she loved them.
We stayed for a couple days. Planned a big birthday party for her hubby...had some laughs...helped her with some cleaning...watched the bravest person I have ever known battle each day with dignity and grace.
My visit was too short. I needed more time.

She left peacefully May 24th.

As expected as this was...I really miss her.

I haven't successfully knit a thing since.
There has been some attempts...a lot of gauge problems...I just didn't want to deal with.
The passion to knit seemed to have left...for a while...but I am still trying.

I actually have something on the needles...and it is working out.
Give me a day and I'll have some pictures for you;)

Sorry for the silence.
I'm coming back...

Maybe it's OK to just swatch or make a garter scarf. Something that allows you to take comfort in the rhythmic click of the needle, the feeling of wool traveling between your fingers. Mindless knits are great for when your mind is somewhere else and the familiarity is its own kind of solace.
The monkeys were indeed a tall order but I bet the boys loved them and your sister felt a little better about going knowing that her boys would be so surrounded by love.
We're all thinking of you and your family. Welcome home.

It seems so inadequate to say I'm sorry, but I hope it gives you some comfort to know people are sending kind thoughts your way and to your sister's family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom last September, and I still ache for her, still dream about her. My knitting mojo has come and gone several times in the last few months; I feel like I'm about to come out of a big slump soon... Please take care :)

I think everyone has been waiting patiently knowing life wasn't peaceful for you, but not knowing in what way - I am so sorry for your loss- I can't imagine the pain of losing a sister.
(and selfishly, I am glad to see that you are coming back!)

Ahh...I can't believe it's true. First your brother and now your sister. How can it be possible?! I feel so sad even though I don't know you! I can understand your silence ... and lack of inspiration. All energy is probably for trying to cope...

Your beautiful sister may not be with you anymore but no one can take away the memory of her. All the past is still valid, and she still lives in you memories.

Funny, I was just wondering where you'd gone yesterday morning and here you are. Such heartbreaking news, and yet, we're glad to have you back. May you find peace and comfort in the days (and stitches) ahead.

I am so sorry. I feel like anything I say is going to sound trite, like how special it must have been to spend those last few days with her, but I know that likely doesn't make this time any easier. Many hugs and thoughts to you and your family.

I sent you a lengthy personal email this evening and it was not able to be delivered to you (although the one on July 20 was able to be sent to the same address). Do you have a new email address that you can share?

I am sitting here in Italy crying for you and your family. I am a fan of your blog and was hoping your absence was simply due to crazy-mommy moments- I am saddened to know the real reason. I wish there were something I could say, but I know there is not. I am sorry. I wish it could have been different for all of you. I wish peace for your family- I wish you could hug your nephews every night. I will hug my girls twice as much tomorrow. Your beautiful sister is a reminder to all of us to love our children while we can. You're in my thoughts.
