Started and finished: October 2008
Pattern: "Cabled Throw" from Debbie Bliss Simple Living
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino in Oatmeal 7 balls.
Yes, there has been some knitting happening around these parts. I just have had no time to blog about them. I decided today I better put in an update and not just add photos to my ravelry page.
The afghan was a request from my sister. She had great intentions to knit a baby afghan for an associate at work who is expecting his first baby. Unfortunely she has had no time to even start this...so, always indebted to her, I mentioned that I had the time to knit it for her...all along knowing that I would be knitting the afghan for her! They are expecting a boy and she wanted something neutral. I searched for many patterns, wanted something boy like...with cables.
I decided to go with a Debbie Bliss pattern from her Simple Living book. The pattern is for a full size afghan but I simply sized it down using baby cashmerino and US#3 needles and less repeats of the pattern. I cast on 149 stitches increasing to 170 and ended up with 5 cables across the blanket. I was unsure of how many balls I would use. I ordered 10 but ended up using 7.
All in all, I really love how it turned out. I am actually toying with the idea of knitting a full size afghan for our new house...I just need to find that perfect pattern!
I know it is short and sweet and to the point...but that is all I have time for! More to come because there are many more finished objects to tell you about.

Short and sweet but you do not disappoint. Lovely afghan. I think I would have a mental block working an afghan on small needles though I think the cashmerino would help.
Absolutely Gorgeous! I am in awe of all the intricate evenness!

What a wonderful sister you are for knitting it for her. I love it. I do look forward to reading about all those FO's you havent posted about either, and it is so nice to read about projects too not just on ravelry. Glad your back.
