If you are at her house on a weekly basis, and the item is a sweater -- and you don't mind doing this person's wash! -- then I think you should use a fiber that is beautiful and you love, and tell this person that part of the gift is that you will do the handwashing! How nice would that be! I would totally do this for my sisters, if they didn't live in Minnesota (far) and California (way farther).

BUT...beware if there is someone else in this house that might decide on a whim to be "helpful." (Can you tell that this happened to me?)

Sounds like your basement is going well! Sorry about your plumbers-- I just got ripped off by some roofers, so I know what a drag it can be!Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17109910521429088196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11056012.post-1127265629065828112005-09-20T21:20:00.000-04:002005-09-20T21:20:00.000-04:00get something machine washable, there is enough bra...get something machine washable, there is enough brands of wool out there for it
cara
earth motherAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11056012.post-1127240242775696002005-09-20T14:17:00.000-04:002005-09-20T14:17:00.000-04:00Well, there is always Shine, which is machine wash...Well, there is always Shine, which is machine washable. Maybe if you have some around you could knit a swatch, measure it, wash it and dry it and see how much it changes.

Although if it were me, I'd go with something handwashable and wash it when I visited. Or something that doesn't need a lot of washing, like a scarf.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11056012.post-1127237180633033032005-09-20T13:26:00.000-04:002005-09-20T13:26:00.000-04:00Hmm--maybe something that doesn't need to be washe...Hmm--maybe something that doesn't need to be washed very often, like a shawl or a wrap? The washable version of Cascade 220 is pretty good!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
