Manly Mittens

Instead of a hat this year, one nephew requested mittens.
Lime green and black.

Hmmmm...lime green is not easy to find. I found "leaf green" which looked like a wearable lime to me!!

I am using patons classic merino. It is a good basic yarn...not too expensive incase a mitt gets lost or ends up in the wash (this stuff felts!)! I think I will go get some more of this yarn...it is one sale this week 50% off at Michaels craft store. This manly mittens pattern is quite easy to knit. You could really make a mitt in a night...it took me a couple nights to complete one.

  1. I didn't see it as 50% off at Michaels. I got some of it at 30% off....

    I love the green.

  2. Nice color combo. I might have to add this pattern to my holiday knitting plans.

  3. I used that yarn on a plain vest I made for my dad and it suited him just perfectly. He loves it. I think the color was called Tree Bark. It is a nice grayish, brownish, green color that isn't totally solid, so even though he requested that I make him a totally unfancy vest it still looks quite nice and as though there is a little texture to it. (He had a vest that was gray and black and it was too vibrant for him--such a crazy guy)

I love mittens. I just finished up some pirate mittens for my son. Yours are beautiful. I love that your family appreciates your craft so much that they make requests at christmas time.

I'v always loved your photos--they've led me to projects I might never have chosen. But I can't see them anymore. I think it might be beacuse you changed to "photobucket," which could be incompatable with some browsers (?). I see others have the same problem. I sure would like to be able to see them again....
