Why not start a new project?

I finally got my Rowan 4 ply...really thin, like dental floss yarn. I swatched for Lucky Cardi. I really am excited to see this made up. The pattern is so nice.

Other than that I still have my "hourglass" to finish, Matteo's "max II" in the blue...just the sleeves, and now I am starting "ray". And then, wait till the mailman comes!

New Loves

Ok, I know my other "favourite" yarns will be jealous...but I have discovered Rowan Calmer and DB Cathay.
Loving Calmer...love the stretch and the cotton. I made Aura in a soft pink for someone special. Really liking this pattern, great for "bad-hair-days" or "these-kids-are-driving-me-crazy-can't-take-a-shower-days".

and I started to swatch the cathay for "Ray". I really love this yarn...same idea as calmer but more of a sheen to it. I will definitely be ordering some of this for me....secretly of course because my husband said no more ordering yarn...yeah, ok.

Not to be discouraged though...I'm back on the bus, two balls in.
On a happier note...here is Renee with her lovely misty garden done in merino and silk!

Hourglass progress report

Ok, getting the correct tension and accounting for the stretch of the microfaser took a couple attempts to master. Like frogging it twice and moving it down a needle size and down a pattern size. So here it is...

It did still look big, but I think...or should I say...hope it is the correct size now!

Wait a minute mister postman!

I can't believe this came today...I think I just ordered yesterday...my hourglass sweater yarn!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
All wrapped in pretty green tissue...with canadian knitter information, a newsletter for classes in TO, a sample card of wool from the same manufacturer (I ordered cotton), a personal thankyou card commenting on the choice of yarn, and candy rockets! Knitwerx.com will get more of my business!

AND she had the errata for the rowan book, printed and paperclipped to the inside of the book! That is just amazing service!

Presenting Interlocking Balloons

Completed the interlocking balloons scarf from "Scarfstyle". I just love the knitpicks yarn. I used Elegance in burnt orange. It drapes beautifully. I think I will be selfish and keep this knit for myself!

Also made some progress on "Max" II in blue. The back is complete and 1/3 of the front...we are on our way. I'll be able to cross things off of my "To Knit" list...or add more to it.

Can't wait for Calmer

Really looking forward to this yarn...drapes so nicely...and I love these patterns

These are the perfect summer sweaters! Look for progress soon!

Knitting Night spent frogging

I decided on a different design for the blue sweater. All was well until I rechecked my gauge and magically everything had changed from my swatch. Most likely due to the changing of bamboo's to addis, so a frogging I had to go. Jumped back on the band wagon and here I am...of course in my handpaintedyarn...

Also found a great deal on Rowan Calmer from a store in NY...because I need it. Yeah I need it. Can't wait to see this yarn. Ordered a cotton blend for my hourglass sweater, along with the "Calmer" book. Goodies are coming!

Backyard leaves is complete! Here it is blocked and ready to wear, in a lovely shade of chocolate brown. A beautiful Birthday gift for my SIL. I must take a moment to say how much I love the Scarfstyle book. It is really expanding my knitting knowledge. I am challenged by the designs and I am learning new techniques. Thank you all for your help with charting...I feel I am a master at charting now!

ok...love the kettle dyed yarn. LOVE IT! Finished the baby sweater...I have to make a sweater for myself out of this. I really like this simple style in Alpaca Silk and the merino would be the perfect sub. Now, how to get more of this yarn? They better offer it again on their site. I am really mad to see it on a website of a store I frequent in London. They are selling it for $18canadian, and I got it for $7.50 american! So I will wait...and wait...and check handpaintedyarn.com every day until it appears again.

Here is progress on DB Ribbed Jacket using the kettle dyed yarn from handpaintedyarn.com. Knits very quickly and yarn is like butter, no, cotton balls, no, marshmellow, no, cotton candy...but softer. REALLY SOFT. Of course will not keep the beautiful stitch definition if it gets alot of wear...

Ordered more yarn...

So I ordered the Rowan 4ply cotton for Lucky...can't wait till it comes! I also started the cover sweater of DB new baby book using the handpaintedyarn and it is hot! So soft and the colourway is beautiful. I will post picture soon.

Confessions of a knitaholic

As my stash grows, I ponder the next move. I am in love with this handpaintedyarn merino wool. They have sold out of it on their website...so this is GOLD! But what to knit with it?

I would like to make sweaters for the boys, but it may have to wait until next season, unless I order some cotton...

My mother in law would like a sleaveless tank. I would give it to her for her birthday/mothers day. So I will be needing some yarn...

I picked up the Stitch N Bitch Nation book and love the lucky clover cardi. This will be my first attempt at an adult garment (excluding ponchos). I need to order some yarn...

I love the Scarfstyle book and I am continually started new scarves, but we are nearing the end of scarf season. I could get an early start on Christmas gifts thought, so I should order some yarn...

I did go pick up that new DB book...not many boy patterns but it is great for baby gifts. I could do the cover sweater in that handpaintedyarn. Or maybe I should order some cashmerino...

Maria's baby is due at the beginning of the summer. What do I knit for him or her. I better go order some yarn...

Love this cardigan...must make it for myself. I really like the rowan 4 ply cotton they are using...I will probably use it but in a different colour. I think the whole wrap around think is hot...and good for my body type according to the BBC What Not to Wear Gals! Maybe a 3/4 sleave??

Can you even believe this! I love Debbie Bliss. Chapters has nine copies, you bet I will be there tomorrow morning to pick mine up! I hope there are some gorgeous patterns for my little boys, as well as fabulous baby gift knitting patterns.

A sense of accomplishment

After a lovely trip to mom and dad's house, I have some finished projects. Check out the progress below and the new stash that has arrived...I think I may become a frequent buyer of this handpainted yarn (recomended on knitters review).

Started the balloons scarf with knitpicks elegance yarn...really turning out nice.

Forbes Forest is finally done! I love the pattern, it was a real challenge. I will definitely tackle this project again...happy wearing hubby!

Half of Backyard Leaves, done in a knitpicks yarn.

Look what arrived while I was gone! This is the softest merino wool I have ever come across...like butter!

New Stash Arrives!

New yarn arrived from elann.com! Beautiful peruvian wool...and very inexpensive!

Misty Garden is complete

Finished Misty in silk and merino blend. I actually like it in this type of yarn...I have seen that it also looks beautiful in the comfort kid mohair that the pattern has called for. I most likely will do it again in that type of a yarn! Almost done the forbes forest...love the pattern, and surprisingly easy to knit! I will post the completed picture this week.
